Your first visit

What to expect

It’s important that we have plenty of time to get to know you and address all of your concerns.

Goals of treatment

The goal of treatment is to help you take charge of your own health. We empower patients by educating them toward a healthier lifestyle, including the physical needs of the body as well as its mental and emotional needs. Each person gets a customized treatment plan, with the goal of achieving optimal health.

We want you to attain the greatest level of health and happiness possible.

Your first visit

The first visit is 1 to 3 hours long for adults and 1 to 2 hours for children, depending on the complexity of your case.

We’ll ask you lots of specific questions and have an in-depth discussion about your nutrition. We’ll complete a Western evaluation and may perform a Chinese diagnosis of your tongue and pulses. After talking in depth with your practitioner, you’ll recline on a comfortable treatment table for 30 minutes to an hour for hands-on treatment and acupuncture, and a chance to relax. Because this may be new to you, we want you to feel safe: your practitioner will make sure you’re comfortable and warm, and you can listen to soothing music.

Bringing children

Younger children can play in the kids’ area while the doctor speaks privately with the parents first; then the whole family can be together during the private treatment. This helps little ones enjoy their experience of going to the doctor. We don’t usually do acupuncture with children, but otherwise their visit is similar.

Areas of specialty

We focus on treating people, not diseases. The clinic may have five patients with the same complaint, and each could get an entirely different treatment plan based on their biological individuality. In naturopathic medicine, Chinese medicine and holistic nutrition, we use a variety of natural modalities to address each person’s specific needs.

Conditions we frequently treat include:

  • Digestive issues
  • Female imbalances
  • HPV and cervical dysplasia
  • Fertility issues
  • Chronic degenerative diseases
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Endocrine imbalances
  • Pediatrics to geriatrics
  • Sports medicine
  • Musculoskeletal issues
  • Complementary medicine
  • Preventive medicine
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Cancer support
  • Behavioral and developmental problems
  • Psychological imbalances
